Buster Conklin has passed on

It is with great sadness that I inform you all that Marshall “Buster” Conklin has passed on today, after a long battle with a failing liver. Buster was a great example for me to follow early in my career and became a great friend and traveling companion. He shod horses around the Central NY state area for 30 years before taking the Resident Farrier position at Cornell University Veterinary College, for another 16 years. He stayed active in our profession after his retirement and was a life time member of the Western NY Farriers Assn. as well as a long time member of the American Farriers Assn.

Buster was a horseshoer’s horseshoer and a man’s man. He roped calves, hunted, was a serious marksman, a seasoned traveler and a great outdoorsman. He taught and encouraged countless beginning farriers and helped thousands of horses. Above all he was a true friend to anyone he met. I feel honored to have been friend of his.
