Farrier/ Tornado Victim

As the tornadoes swept across the state of Alabama last Wednesday the entire state suffered great loss both in lives and material possessions. One of our farriers, Jason Hyatt, CF lost his house in the tornado that went through Cullman and Arab area. He is a young farrier in his mid-20′s and was also one of my apprentices. I went to his community Friday as soon as I heard about his loss to see what we could do. Many of us that live closer will be working trying to clear the damage with chainsaws and tractors but there are other ways people can help. Since much of his business was local, many of his clients are in the same shape as he is and will likely not be calling to have farrier work done for some time. If there is anyway you can help monetarily, we are passing the hat on his behalf. He has not asked for a dime, but we all know how much he will need some help. If everyone on here could shoe just one horse and send the money, I know that it would be a huge break for him. We have already passed the hat and taken up a few hundred dollars, but it will run out pretty quick. I am only working three days a week right now and committing the rest of my time helping the storm victims. I do ask that if you send a donation, please include your contact information, Jason said that he wanted to personally thank each and every person that helps him. We can all imagine what it would be like to not only loose our home but also be limited financially, without a way to rebuild a lifetime worth of possessions. Though the storm made so many of us realize how worthless material possessions are, those that have the means to help, I ask that you contribute what you can. I can assure you that he will get every dime that you send as these monies will NOT be funneled through any type of organization. At the moment, the banks are damaged and not operating in his area but checks can be made out to either Phillip Box or ALPFA(Alabama Professional Farriers Assoc.) and we will ensure that he gets in as we make trips to his place. I have attached a picture of his house as it rests in pieces throughout the wooded area. The metal frame you see was his new mobile home that he had just finished remodeling as he was supposed to get married soon. By the way he was luckily out working when the storm hit so he didn’t loose his tools and truck. Thanks again.
