Equipment help, Anvil v Stall Jack

Hi All,

I’m just after some ideas on whether it would be better to purchase a stall jack or an anvil to shape shoes.

My current farrier said that I am trimming horses well enough, and it was time to move on to shoeing.
But before I can start shoeing, I need to purchase the main piece of equipment. Lets face it, you cant shape shoes if you dont have an anvil/stall jack/lump of railway iron etc…
Its an expensive piece of equipment and dont really want to regret my choice in years to come.

The anvil is approx $70 dearer than the stall jack.

However, the stall jack already has a stand, where as the anvil would require me to either make a stand or purchase it separately.
So the Anvil could be as much as $150 more expensive initially.

Thnks for you help and ideas in advance.
