Acetylene shortage
I stopped yesterday to pick up a new bottle of acetylene. Use it to apply borium. The vendor told me I got the last bottle and that no new shipments were forecast. This ties back to the Louisville, Kentucky calcium carbide plant explosion that occurred last March.
What little is available in the midwest comes with a surcharge and at a premium.
I do not have many customers that request borium but those that do are pretty steadfast in their need for it.
Anyone else experiencing this problem and any alternative ideas? Can you arc weld borium?
Studs are the obvious answer to me but I have to sell a few customers on the idea.
Cheers,
Mark
