New farrier magazine…

Seems that someone is trying to launch a new farrier magazine. She’s started a blog about it over in the F&HRC Blog section.

Nothing against Frank, but if rumors of the demise of PF magazine are true, it would be good to see more than one publication in the American trade.

Bex appears to be going for an advertising-supported model (like some of the trader newspapers) with Crudoir, so at least y’all don’t have to worry about paying for subscriptions that never come, as some were complaining about in another thread.

It’ll be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

Draft horseshoe dimensions.

Hey y’all,

I’m putting together a horseshoe size chart for the next project. Problem is, I make my draft shoes from bar stock, so the only sized shoes I have to measure are old ones I pulled off horses, which have been worked out of their original dimensions.

Looking around the web, only Diamond seems to list their draft shoe width & length online. But their draft shoes have unfinished heels, and are intermediate sized. (Smallish 6 with long heels, no 7, then long-heeled 8.)

So does anyone have some Kerckhaert draft shoes and a ruler handy?
