OMG Its horrible now!!
So my horse was running the the pasture last year and triped in a hole…. he was down for about 2 weeks with what i thought was sholder problems (pulled musle) he got better with stall rest and dmso. About a month later (maybe less) he developed a huge quarter crack but its diagnal damage… this has given him no lamess after the first 2 weeks. It never seemed as a feet problem even during this time. He doesnt favor this or seem to care when i clean it, the new hoof that has grown in is fine ….
NOW FOR THE BAD. He was fighting a few days ago and now it looks like the picture. My family does there own foot care. we have delt with alot over the year all to our sucess but this is way extreme. We have glue and the guns to aply it and i have cleaned the hoof and there is no damage to the inside just the wall itself. I filled it with glue about a week before it blew out as it was right on the verge of being to high up to rasp off but to low to just leave. We have had great luck with the glue in the past but i just dont think it was the right application or maybe should have done more. I was hoping the glue would hold tell spring and he could then be shod with a heart bar or something of the sort to take the pressure off the only pieces left of that side…
THe hoof 3 days later still isnt bothering him but i need him soud for the spring.
any sugestions on where to go from here. He does have enough heel to support the shoe on that side but not enough to nail any kind of shoe on. Ihave found some people using equicast ( its a fiberglass casting tape that has showen great promise. any ideas this is there website. BTW we have no farrier in our area that would have more experience then we have
my vet is also an incompetent rearend so
